Old Kattappa tells Shiva why he killed his father, Amarendra. After Amarendra was adopted by Queen Sivagami, his older half-brother, Bhallaladeva, became jealous of him. This jealousy reached its peak after a battle with wild tribes, when Sivagami named her younger son the heir to the kingdom. Bhallaladeva and his cunning uncle began to plot against Amarendra.
